My name is **Janne** (she/her, rhymes with ārainā) and I write **ADHD in a Trenchoat**! The title of this website comes from a painfully relatable tweet I saw, which said something along the lines of: I thought I had a personalityā¦ turns out Iām just three ADHDs in a trenchcoat š³

>I share my experiences and takes on ADHD so that other young New Zealanders who are just starting out on their ADHD journeys feel validated in theirs.
These days I am based in PÅneke (a.k.a. Wellington), but I was born in Korea and grew up in the Waikato. That makes me a WoC / child of immigrants / Third Culture Kid, and itās a big part of how I experience the world.
I [[My ADHD origin story|discovered my ADHD]] in my late twenties. I am your typical āAdult ADHD in womenā stereotype: I did well in school, and thought that ADHD only applied to young boys who ran around in class.. until I started seeing ADHD memes on social media and eventually went, 'Wait a minute.. theyāre not just being quirky and relatable, I think I need to actually look into this.'
**Now what?**
I have been formally diagnosed (once [[ADHD diagnosis process - South Korea|in Korea]], once [[ADHD diagnosis process - New Zealand|in NZ]], both times through the private health system) and put on [[ADHD medication options in NZ|stimulants]]. Iām now figuring out how to redesign my life in the knowledge of my ADHD. Iām a big fan of trusting yourself, embracing unconventional wisdom (if it makes your life easier to live), and being honest and upfront about the limitations that come with ADHD.
ADHD is not my superpower, but thatās okay!
